The New Farm Bill 2020.


 The Farmer's Produce Trade and Commerce ( Promotion and Facilitation ) Bill, 2020 allows the farmers to sell their produce outside the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) regulated markets which are government controlled marketing yards or mandis. It seeks to remove commodities like cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onion and potatoes from the list of essential commodities. This will end the imposition of stock - holding limits except under extra ordinary circumstances. 

The Bill was introduced in Lok Sabha on 14th Sept, 2020, passed in Rajya Sabha on 20th Sept, 2020. The Bill received Presidential Assent on 24th Sept, 2020.
